Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge April Sketch

Hello there!

Today I want to share with you the awesome sketch challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge.  I just loved this sketch:

Here is the page I created for this challenge:

And then of course, the close ups:

All the gorgeous chippie I've used on this page is from Imaginarium Designs, that I won from the gorgeous Louise Nelson.

I wanted to keep this page simple yet striking, so embossed the chippie with gold embossing powder, and kept the rest of the layout in black & white and black & gold (the punchinella from Gauche Alchemy).

I hope you'll all give this awesome sketch a go - I'd just love to see what you create for it!

Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

Off The Rails Stencils and Masks Challenge

Hi again,

The latest challenge has been revealed over at Off The Rails, and it's a fab one!  I loved creating a page for this.

Lots of close ups here so you can see all the different ways I've used stencils and masks...

For the photo mat, I used some corrugated cardboard and coloured it with gelatos - I love how vibrant yet soft the colours are how they've tied in effortlessly with the rest of the layout.

I had a blast thinking of ways to layers these mask and stencils to create a background with depth, that doesn't over-power the page and detract from the photo.  I hope you'll give this challenge a go - I'd love to see what you create.

Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

Latest DT work

Hi everyone,

Wow, what a month March has been!  3 of my cherubs have birthdays in March, and one of them had a week off of school, because they were ill... it has been a very full on month.

But here we are in April!  A quarter of the year is already gone!  So, let's jump into the challenge reveals I have to share with you, and not think about how quickly the time is going!

First up: D-Lish Scraps

This month's mood board is called 'Tangerine Splash' and is chock a block full of inspiration!  I just know you'll have so much fun with this one!

And of course, here are the close ups :)

The orange gauze is from the D-Lish Scraps shop, as are the blue and aqua button, the stars, sequins, chevron flair, copper wire, bicycle charm and jewelled flowers - actually, just about all the embellies on this page, except the crocheted flower lol.

Next, Show Us Your Stuff

The challenge this month is to use this gorgeous image for inspiration:

Here is my take on the challenge:

I took inspiration from the colours, the circles and the purple flower.  My handmade embellie is the Catie's Craft Corner Enchanting Envelope, in which I have hidden my journaling.

Would love to see what you create for this challenge!

My last page for today is for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge

The challenge for this page is to:

"Scrap or art journal about a favourite pastime from your youth.  Was it a sport, fishing, cycling, reading, or teasing your older brother? Use a photo of when you were young, a photo of the pastime, or whatever is appropriate!!!"

My page is about the series of mystery novels I read over and over again as a teen... The Trixie Belden series.  I just LOVED these books!

I still have my collection :)

Here are the close ups:

This pic below shows the journaling hidden under the photo - the string is attached to the journaling card.

I used pages from an old book and glued them to my cardstock with Mod Podge, including a layer of Mod Podge over the top.  This gave a great texture and surface to spray ink onto and to distress using inks and tea.  I soaked the gauze in tea also.  The corrugated cardboard added extra texture and age to the page.

Can't wait to see what you share for this challenge :)

Be sure to check out each of the challenges and the amazingly inspiring work of all the other DT members!

Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

Off The Rails Bloghop

Hello, hello!  And welcome to my Craft Corner.  If you're blog hopping, you should have arrived here via the lovely Wendy O'Keeffe's blog, and you will have been inspired by her use of washi tape :)

I've decided to use twine for my station.  Here's the layout I created, and some close ups of a few different things I've done with twine:

In the pic below, I attached the twine to a hidden shipping tag, which has my journaling on it, and frayed the twine to leave it peeking out at the top of the photo.  To achieve the frayed effect, I just held one strand of the twine, then pulled all the other strands down the length of the strand I was holding onto and let it all bunch up at the bottom.  I then trimmed the excess off.

In the next pic, you can see I've used some hessian type twine (that I just found laying around on my desk!) and I just tied a bow at one end, and ran the rest along the bottom edge of my photo.

To create the border for the photo, I loosely plaited three strands of different coloured twine together (that co-ordinated with my background) and glued the plaited strand around the edge of the photo.

The twine hanging down from behind the bird's nest charm is the tail end of the plaited strand.

Finally, I used glue to 'write' my title, then adhered the twine along the glue.  Such a 'lovely' effect ;).
