Happy Australia Day

Hi there!

Another busy week in this neck of the woods! And it's only Tuesday!! LOL.. Happy Australia Day everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing day. I went bushwalking (sort of) with my family - got some lovely photos, which hopefully I'll have time to put up tomorrow...

For now, I want to share with you my latest LOs...
This one above, is from the January CC class with Sandie over at Bon's Scraps. I had a great time doing this, and was quite pleased with the outcome.

This one (above) is for Felicity's scraplift challenge over at Bon's, and was based on a LO originally done by Deb over at Bon's also. Confused? Me too!!! Anyway, loved this one, and I've been wanting to scrap this photo for awhile now, and have finally done it!

And whilst I am here, I thougt I'd share with your my creative space... Catie's Craft Corner! This is my little room of sanity, where I escape to at the end of the day to create and restore some sanity LOL. Eventually, I'd like to paint the room and jazz it up a bit, but I'm just ecstatic to have my own room to use at this stage, instead of having to use the dining table!!

The last thing I have to share with you this evening is my first ever ATC swap... I am taking part in the February swap over at Born2Create. The theme is "Home is where the heart is" and we had to use the little house template supplied by Sarah for it... love it! I struggled to begin with, trying to think how I was going to decorate this tiny little house, but got there in the end. Close your eyes now, if you're one of the girls taking part in the swap and you want to be surprised when you get yours in the mail!!!!

Sandie's Sketch - 'Splish, Splash, Splosh'

Hi Everyone!
I have been flat out all week this week, and woke up this morning not knowing what day it is... I was tempted to google it, but finally managed to work it out on my own!!! LOL! Thank goodness it's Friday!!!
So, today I am sharing with you a LO I did yesterday as part of the CC over at Bon's - the sketch was designed by the very talented Sandie. I had a lot of fun with this. I've never used paint on a LO before, so this was something completely new for me, and I think I am now hooked!!

The criteria for this LO was:
1. use at least 3 different colours of paint, and stamp with it using lids or whatever else you had in the house you could be creative with.
2. stitching on the page
3. pins or safety pins on the page
I used some lids, and also got my kids' tuppaware ball shapes and used some of those as well.
I hand stitched on the page... my machine doesn't seem to handle paper and cardstock very well, and I need it to make my bags, so figured I'd better not risk breaking it!
And in the pic below, you can see my pins.

I used some chipboard alphas to trace around and make letters for the title... this was probably the hardest part of the LO because it took to long to do! I then used kindy glitz to outline them.

some paint splodges.... I really loved the paint, can you tell?!

Close up of the stitching...

A closer up pic of the embellies... love that octopus... I cut him out from one of the Kaiser 'Fun Fair' papers... LOVE them!!

and a bit of a closer look at him.
So there you go. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it... I'm not so sure about how the title turned out, but I think the colour of the kindy glitz really adds to the whole bath type theme.
Next, I'll be having a go at Sandie's class.... can't wait!! Enjoy your Friday!

Click here to check out all the details. Should be great for those who can attend... I won't be able to as I have a CM party on tonight, however, I believe it goes for a week, so lots of time to submit LO's etc. Check it out, and have some fun with these very friendly and very talented ladies!!

Challenges January 2010

Hello All,

I have been taking some time in the last week or so to enter a few online challenges - it's always fun seeing the different challenges these talented people come up with, and even more fun to see so many different interpretations of each of the challenges!

The first pic is of the challenge over at Born 2 Create... the sketch was by Invilde Bolme on the Pencil Lines site - great sketch! I had fun with this one... there's a few close ups below, too.

This one is for Scrapnart, and the sketch was one of the talented Angela Bailey's... loved this sketch! Loved her sample LO even more!

This one is from Out of the Hat - the January challenge is to use circles, striped paper and a one word title...

This one is from Scrap, Chat 'n' Challenges - the January colour challenge - we had to use Lime Green, Red, Navy and Orange. I found this a bit tricky, but managed to make some kind of LO in the end, LOL.
And the last one is also from Scrap, Chat 'n' Challenges - the January quote challenge. The quote we had to use for this is "All one needs to prosper in life is good luck, good humour and good friends".

I am loving those Prima butterflies - they're just stunning! I made the roses from ribbon - I found this site, which shows you step by step how to make them.
That's all for now. Hope you've enjoyed my latest LO's; I sure had fun making them!
Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

Latest Works

Good Morning All,
Welcome to the latest edition of Catie's Craft Corner. These are some of the things I have been working on over the last week...

This above photo is the first page of a new album I am making of our family holiday last year...
The photo below is a LO of my parents and I at my wedding... I wanted to do a LO specially about how much they mean to me...

The booties above are a little gift I've made for a friend having a baby boy - they are soooo tricky to make.... I had grand aspirations of making a heap to sell at the markets, however, they are so fiddly and tricky, I have decided to for-go that idea!!!
The cards below are a range of various cards I have made recently... building up stocks for the markets at the end of the month...

This '5' card is one I made for a friend's son's birthday next week...

and these two are for some friends' little girls, both turning 3...

this last one is the card I made for my DD who turned 2 last Friday! I can't believe she is 2 already; the time has just flown by way too quickly!

So, there you have it... my latest works. I have also been busy organising my craft room again, now that I have extra shelving and an extra cupboard in there. I love to retreat to my room and crank up the music and CREATE! It is so nice to escape things for awhile every now and then. Most of my work is done at night, but I am also lucky enough to get a bit done on weekends when hubby is home to amuse the children.

Wishing you all a wonderful week!
Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

And the scrap drought is broken!!!! Woohoo!!

Hello All!
Welcome to my first instalment for 2010! I hope you all had wonderful fun celebrating and welcoming in the new year.
I haven't done any scrapping since the final Xmas Hamper Challenge over at the Challenge Chics, which was in November... so I was having some serious withdrawals and was in desperate need of some scrap therapy!
Finally, I have broken the drought, and completed not one, but two LO's in the last 2 days! Hooray!!! I'm ecstatic!
The first (below) is for the January 2010 challenge set by Vicki over at the Challenge Chics - we had to use Fozz Felt, Buttons and papers from 2009. I used Kaiser's 'Garden Arabesque' papers. It was a fun challenge, and perfect to help break the drought.

The second LO I have done, is a 'just because' one... I wanted to use some more of the gorgeous 'Garden Arabesque' papers, and thought I'd just see what happened... the result is below, together with some close up of various parts of the page.

So there you have it... my first two LO's for 2010. Can't wait to sink my teeth into some more! Happy scrapping everyone... I highly recommend the buzz that comes with it!!

Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo
