Off The Rails Bloghop

Hello, hello!  And welcome to my Craft Corner.  If you're blog hopping, you should have arrived here via the lovely Wendy O'Keeffe's blog, and you will have been inspired by her use of washi tape :)

I've decided to use twine for my station.  Here's the layout I created, and some close ups of a few different things I've done with twine:

In the pic below, I attached the twine to a hidden shipping tag, which has my journaling on it, and frayed the twine to leave it peeking out at the top of the photo.  To achieve the frayed effect, I just held one strand of the twine, then pulled all the other strands down the length of the strand I was holding onto and let it all bunch up at the bottom.  I then trimmed the excess off.

In the next pic, you can see I've used some hessian type twine (that I just found laying around on my desk!) and I just tied a bow at one end, and ran the rest along the bottom edge of my photo.

To create the border for the photo, I loosely plaited three strands of different coloured twine together (that co-ordinated with my background) and glued the plaited strand around the edge of the photo.

The twine hanging down from behind the bird's nest charm is the tail end of the plaited strand.

Finally, I used glue to 'write' my title, then adhered the twine along the glue.  Such a 'lovely' effect ;).

I trust you're all enjoying the blog hop, and have seen many amazing and inspiring projects from the DT ladies.

March challenges and another announcement!

Hi everyone!

Can you believe it is March already?!  February always flies past way too quickly!

So, the start of a new month means a plethora of new scrappy challenges to check out.  Here are the ones I'm lucky enough to be part of bringing you each month:

Being March, we've gone with all things green in honour of St Patrick's Day, and we've come up with a mood board chock-a-block with lots of bits and pieces to inspire you:

I took inspiration from the colours and the paint brush and crayons.  I wanted to create a really arty, textured background and did that using Impasto and Gelatos and Glimmermists.  I also used up some odd alphabet stickers that I can't use to create words with anymore to add a little more dimension.  My handmade embellies are the flat paper flowers; I stamped some with Staz On, and coloured the others with Gelatos.  I also coloured the flourishes with Gelatos, as they were raw.
Can't wait to see how this board inspires YOU!

At AFSC this month, our first challenge for you is a prompt challenge:

Scrap or art journal about a favourite song in from your teens.  You can scrap some of the lyrics, or the title, or a photo of the band …

One of my favourite songs in my teens was "Always" by Bon Jovi.  I don't know what it is about the song, but I still love to listen to it and sing along to it these days :)
So I found a nice photo of JBJ and used that to create this layout:

I created a grungy background using Gelatos and a stencil, plus Glimmermist and stamping and journaled some of the lyrics around the outside edge of the page.
I look forward to seeing a range of pages and songs in the gallery over the next few weeks :)

And finally, I can announce, I am fortunate to be on the Autumn Design Team at D-Lish Scraps!  I'm blessed to be working with a wonderful team of talented ladies.  Click on the link above to check out who they are ;)

Our Tropical Twist mood board this month is bright and cheery and so much fun:

So many different elements to consider!!

Here is my sample page and some close ups:

The chipboard stars and birds, jewelled flower, tassle, chevron flair and resin rose are all from the D-lish Scraps store.  Go and check it out - I know Amanda has busily been stocking up with some gorgeous new products!!

I hope to see you join in with the challenges this month - there is so much to be inspired by and get you scrapping your precious memories!
