Therapy Scrapping

Hello again,
Just wanted to share with you a LO I did last night, for a challenge over at Deb's Creations. The criteria was to scrap using a song that has touched you, including a picture of the singer/band, and the lyrics of the song, as well as different textures (e.g. paint, cardboard, flocked paper, lace, ribbon etc) and any embellishments we liked, but one had to be handmade.
I used the song "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton. This has always been one of my favourite songs, and immediately came to mind when I read about this challenge. I wanted to scrap about our second baby, who we lost at 17 weeks, and this song fit in with what I wanted to do. I never got a photo of this baby, but took photos of the bouquet that my parents sent me at the time, so used those to scrap. I made the journalling the main focus, and it was difficult but therapeutic to do. Scrapping really is wonderful therapy! So, here it is...

I used paint, as well as ribbon, lace and cardboard for different textures. I used lots of little buttons themed for babies, and in many different colours because we didn't know if the baby was a boy or a girl.

I wanted to use butterflies to symbolise the spirit of our baby flying to Heavnen.

I handmade the envelope from cardboard, and the rose from ribbon.

So there you have it. I used Kaisercraft Devonshire Collection papers for this LO - love those papers... they are simply divine!!

A Realisation

Good evening all,
Welcome to the latest installment of CCC. Tonight, I have included my latest LO, which, I don't know about anyone else, but I am loving! The photo was taken at my best friend's wedding (I was her matron of honour... or whatever newage funky title they use these days, coz MOH sounds soooo old!!!).
And here are a couple of closeups...

LOVE the Prima butterflies... so pretty!

So there you have it. I felt a little more in possession of my mojo after completing this LO. I have made a realisation over the last couple of days... I believe I lost my mojo because I was trying to hard to emulate other people's styles that I have seen, and love, but that haven't been 'me', or my style. It's kind of depressing not being able to do things you love to look at in the same way as the original artist, but I think it's important to remember that I have my own style, and that I need to embrace that. I need to do what I feel comfortable doing and follow my instincts to be happy with MY work. Makes sense, doesn't it?

So, whilst I hope you like my LO, I'm not going to stress anymore, because I love it, and that is what is important... not whether it gets picked up for publication (which would be awesome, but is not the reason I love to scrap).

Okay, that'll do for now... I have a few challenges from around the place that I'd like to get stuck into, so best be off for now!

Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

Wahoo - a new LO!!!

Good evening everyone! I have finally done it... put together a LO that is... As you know from my previous post, my mojo has gone MIA, but last night, I managed to put this together. I really struggle with negative space, and while this LO has relatively little negative space, I still feel like it's incomplete without the whole page being covered LOL.

Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you and invite some feedback... any and all feedback is welcome and appreciated. It might really help me get back on the proverbial horse! So, come one and all and have at it!

Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo

Missing Mojo

Hi Everyone,
Gosh, I can't believe we're just about half way thru February already!!! I have been a bit quiet of late - my mojo took a serious hike at the beginning of the month, and I have been franticly searching for it ever since! It could have something to do with becoming another year older at the beginning of the month... hmmm...
Anyway, I have been to the Grampians this past couple of days, and have taken a plethora of photos that will need to be scrapped... hopefully that will help provide some inspiration for me.
Also, over at Bon's Scraps, on Tuesday night, there is the February CC happening! Come on over and join in the fun...
3 hours earlier for Perth
1 hour earlier for QLD
30 mins earlier for SA...
8:45- Sketch Challenge
9:05- bingo
9:30- Scrap Lift challenge
why not come over and check it out??
I hope to have a whole heap of awesome LOs done to share with you soon... bear with me!! By the way, if anyone happens to see my mojo laying around anywhere, please give it a shove back in my direction so I can give it a stern talking to about disappearing at inopportune times. Thank you!!
Thanks for looking. Warmest wishes, Catie xo
